In many ways the small towns of North Carolina really reflect the character of the state. In my travels I try to come back with images that personify the towns I visit.

New Bern, the second oldest town in North Carolina, is situated where the Trent and Neuse Rivers meet. New Bern abounds with history around every corner with over 150 historic landmarks, the magnificent Tryon Palace, Birthplace of Pepsi and a 157,000-acre national forest.
     
  
Founded in 1709 as a Port of Entry and fishing village, Beaufort has a rich maritime history.  The historic waterfront district along Taylor’s Creek offers visitors the opportunity to dine and shop while enjoying views of feral horses on Carrot Island and boats from all over the world at the Beaufort Docks.
  
For over 200 years the historic coastal community of Southport has guarded the mouth of the Cape Fear River and continues to be the lightkeeper of its history.

Craft and art galleries abound in Brevard
  
Pottery on display at Main Street Gallery, a Co-op organized in 1982 by a talented group of High Country artists and craftspeople.  It is owned and operated by the member craftspeople who share in the management, operation, and financing of the gallery. The members are as diverse in their backgrounds as they are in the media they use.
